Premarital Counseling
For Maryland Residents
You’re an engaged couple or a couple exploring marriage
You or your partner is a Maryland resident
You’re interested in starting your marriage with a strong foundation aligned with your values
You feel like you’re in a good place as a couple but you’re ready to strengthen your relationship with a better understanding of each other and how to navigate challenges together
Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs, working towards improved communication and understanding. As a certified facilitator, I utilize the Prepare Enrich assessment to provide personalized insights into your relationship strengths and areas for growth, and help you build the skills you need to walk through the ups and downs of life together.
Premarital counseling Is ideal for you if:
Premarital counseling increases overall marital satisfaction, decreases divorce rates, and leads to couples feeling more confident in their relationships
(Olsen, Olson, & Larson, 2012)

The Process
1- Consultation Call
We get on a quick call so I can better understand your unique needs and see if working together would be a good fit. I answer any questions you have and we schedule your intake!
2- Questionnare
You and your partner will spend 30-45 minutes completing the complimentary Prepare Enrich couples questionnaire ($35 value). You’ll receive a report based on your answers, gathering the information we need to dive right in during our first session. Read more about Prepare Enrich here
3- The first Session
We will spend the first session together reviewing your relationship strengths, growth areas, and anything else you want to work on. We will cover the topics mentioned above, discussing the main challenges you face and how to resolve them.
4- Individual Sessions
You and your partner will each schedule individual sessions with me where we review session one and give space to discuss your individual thoughts, challenges, and concerns.
5-Group Sessions
Depending on your needs and timeline, we will have 2-4 group sessions. This is where the bulk of the work will be done, addressing your growth areas and working towards your goals through engaging activities to build skills and strengthen your relationship.
6- Post-Wedding follow up
After your wedding, we will have our final session to check in on your relationship post wedding and address any new concerns that may arise after adjusting to all the changes in your lives like living together, interacting with family, etc. We will complete any applicable activities and skill building, and review new goals as you navigate the next steps of your relationship!
You’ll have the option to schedule additional sessions as needed.

Disclaimer: Premarital Counseling vs. Therapy
Premarital counseling offered through this practice is not the same as psychotherapy or mental health treatment. Unlike therapy, which may involve the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions, premarital counseling is educational and preventative in nature. It is designed to help couples build a strong foundation for marriage by enhancing communication, clarifying expectations, and developing tools for navigating conflict and change.
No mental health diagnoses will be made during premarital counseling, and it is not intended to address or resolve mental health disorders. If mental health concerns arise, couples may be referred for individual or couples therapy as appropriate.
Participation in premarital counseling does not establish a therapist-client relationship for mental health treatment purposes.
